Aries and Aquarius
Fire meets air · Drive and independence
Aries and Aquarius are both independent, both unconventional, both hard to slow down. Aries acts on instinct, Aquarius on an idea – together they are a duo that doesn't just think up new things but actually starts them.
First encounter
Aquarius is interested in Aries because Aries is different from most people – more direct, more physical, more impatient. Aries is interested in Aquarius because Aquarius is not impressed by the way Aries comes across. The first encounter is friendly, often a bit quirky and full of ideas. Both quickly notice that the other takes freedom as seriously as they do – and that is relaxing.
What connects you
Independence is their shared basic law: neither wants to own, neither wants to be owned. Both are pioneers – Aries in action, Aquarius in thought – and they encourage each other to question conventions. Aquarius gives Aries vision and concept, Aries gives Aquarius the courage to turn concepts into deeds. Their friendship is often the basis of everything else; they can walk their own paths side by side for a long time and still stay connected.
Where it rubs
Aquarius is fixed: once they have formed an opinion, only good arguments will change it – and Aries doesn't argue, Aries pushes. That makes Aquarius stubborn and Aries furious. Emotionally they differ: Aries is hot, Aquarius cool and detached, which Aries reads as rejection. Aquarius in turn finds Aries's outbursts immature. The translation: Aries gives Aquarius time to think, Aquarius gives Aries a sign that distance is not disinterest.
Frequently asked questions
Are Aries and Aquarius compatible?
They get on well as long as both are allowed to stay free. Whether the emotional temperature fits is revealed better by the Moon and Venus in both charts than by the Sun signs.
Why does Aquarius seem distant to Aries?
Because Aquarius processes feelings through the head and shows closeness differently – through loyalty and interest, not through heat. Aries needs that spelled out to recognise it.
