Aries and Capricorn
Fire meets earth · Sprint and marathon
Aries wants it now, Capricorn wants it to last. Both are cardinal and ambitious – they differ not in the goal but in the time horizon. That makes them a demanding combination with great potential for building something together.
First encounter
Capricorn checks, Aries gets going. Capricorn finds Aries refreshing and a little immature, Aries finds Capricorn impressive and a little rigid. Respect comes early – both recognise in the other someone who wants to achieve something. Warmth takes longer: Capricorn opens up slowly, and Aries has little patience for that. Those who get through this phase often have a foundation that withstands strain.
What connects you
Both want to shape things and gladly take on responsibility. Aries brings the impetus, Capricorn the plan and the stamina – together they not only get projects rolling but bring them to the finish. Capricorn gives Aries a framework and backing, Aries gives Capricorn momentum and the reminder that joy is not a luxury. Both are honest, neither wastes time on talk, and both value in the other the willingness to make an effort.
Where it rubs
Pace and tone. Aries experiences Capricorn as braking and controlling, Capricorn experiences Aries as rash and disrespectful of rules. Capricorn can stall Aries with dry criticism, Aries can harden Capricorn with impatience. Both are cardinal – both want to decide how things go on. The translation: Aries realises that structure carries their energy rather than shackling it; Capricorn realises that impulses are not chaos but material.
Frequently asked questions
Are Aries and Capricorn compatible?
They are alike in ambition and strangers in pace. Whether they experience themselves as a team or as brake and accelerator is shown most clearly by Mars and Saturn in both charts.
What does Aries learn from Capricorn?
That stamina reaches the goal the sprint only aims at. Conversely, Capricorn learns from Aries that starting is sometimes more important than the perfect plan.
