Aries and Scorpio
Fire meets water · Two forms of intensity
Aries and Scorpio traditionally share Mars as their ruler – one lives it openly, the other under cover. Both are strong-willed, both avoid half-measures. That makes for a connection with depth and explosive power.
First encounter
Between Aries and Scorpio the first encounter is rarely neutral. Scorpio reads Aries in seconds and keeps it to itself; Aries senses it is being seen through and finds that fascinating or uncomfortable – usually both. What attracts them is the other's intensity: both recognise that here is someone who does things all or nothing. What makes them cautious is the inkling that a trial of strength lies ahead.
What connects you
Both have courage, both don't avoid conflict, both despise superficiality. Loyalty matters to them, and once they have chosen each other they stick together like few others. Aries brings clarity and pace into Scorpio's depths, Scorpio brings persistence and seriousness into Aries's activism. In a crisis they are a remarkable team: Aries attacks, Scorpio holds out.
Where it rubs
Aries is open, Scorpio closed – and Aries hates being left in the dark. Scorpio in turn finds Aries's directness tactless and the forgetfulness after an argument a lack of seriousness. Where Aries has long since moved on, Scorpio keeps the hurt. Control is the sore point: Scorpio wants it, Aries won't tolerate it. The translation: Aries learns discretion, Scorpio learns to say things out loud instead of storing them.
Frequently asked questions
Are Aries and Scorpio compatible?
A powerful, demanding combination. Whether the intensity binds or exhausts shows less in the Suns than in the Moon, Mars and Pluto in both charts.
Why do Aries and Scorpio often understand each other without words?
Both are traditionally assigned to Mars: the same willpower, just directed outwards and inwards. They recognise a kindred energy in each other, even if it shows itself differently.
