Scorpio and Aquarius
Water meets air · Two unbending signs
Scorpio and Aquarius are both fixed, both headstrong, both hard to read. Scorpio lives from feeling, Aquarius from principle. A fascinating, resistant combination in which neither gives way.
First encounter
Scorpio tries to see through Aquarius, and Aquarius won't allow it – which intrigues them both. Aquarius finds Scorpio's intensity as interesting as a riddle, Scorpio finds Aquarius's distance as challenging as a fortress. The first encounter is electric and watchful. Neither is easily won, and each knows that about the other.
What unites them
Both are loyal, independent and unconventional. They are interested in what lies behind things – Scorpio psychologically, Aquarius socially. Aquarius gives Scorpio breadth, freedom and permission not to control everything; Scorpio gives Aquarius depth, warmth and the experience that closeness does not mean captivity. Once trust has formed, they are very faithful to each other and respect each other's individuality unconditionally.
Where it rubs
Scorpio wants closeness and merging, Aquarius wants distance and freedom – and both are fixed enough to insist on it for years. Scorpio experiences Aquarius as cold, aloof and non-committal, Aquarius experiences Scorpio as possessive, jealous and too emotional. Both are stubborn, neither gives in, and conflicts turn into matters of principle. The translation: Aquarius shows connection explicitly, Scorpio gives space without suspicion – and both accept that they will never fully possess the other.
