Taurus and Aquarius
Earth meets air · Tradition and renewal
Taurus preserves, Aquarius renews. Both are fixed signs, both persistent in their convictions – only the convictions point in opposite directions. A demanding combination that asks for a lot of respect for being different.
First encounter
Aquarius finds Taurus pleasantly unflappable, Taurus finds Aquarius interestingly unconventional. Neither is easily impressed, and that is exactly what they like about each other. The first encounter has something watchful about it: Aquarius keeps its distance, Taurus is in no hurry. What slowly builds is a friendship between equals in which each lets the other be as they are – until the first questions of principle come up.
What unites them
Both are loyal and constant in whatever they decide on. Taurus admires the breadth of Aquarian thinking, Aquarius admires the reliability of Taurus. Aquarius brings ideas, friends and the future into the life of Taurus; Taurus brings Aquarius the body, enjoyment and the present. When both see the other's contribution, an unusual balance of grounding and vision emerges that neither would have alone.
Where it rubs
Two fixed signs with opposite values: Taurus wants what has proved itself to stay, Aquarius wants what is outdated to go. Taurus experiences Aquarius as cool, erratic and disrespectful of tradition; Aquarius experiences Taurus as possessive and narrow-minded. They understand closeness differently: Taurus wants touch, Aquarius wants conversation. The translation: Taurus gives space without treating it as a turning away; Aquarius shows connection physically and concretely too.
Frequently asked questions
Are Taurus and Aquarius a good match?
A demanding combination of two fixed signs with different values. Whether the differences hold up as enrichment is shown more clearly by the Moon, Venus and Uranus in both charts than by the Suns.
Why are Taurus and Aquarius considered a difficult combination?
They stand in square to each other and are both fixed – persistent, that is, in opposite attitudes. Difficult here means a lot of translation work, not impossibility.
